Best Weather Webcam

Post by TreeBee » Sat Dec 16, 2017 7:57 pm

Im looking to purchase and add in a wireless webcam to monitor our hives and the weather stations we are placing in remote locations, they will have to connect and transmit via the mobile phone 4G network.

Has anyone used similar or can recommend a good affordable camera that would monitor the weather but also add in a bit of security? :geek:

TreeBee
have a look at some of the security camera forums: https://ipcamtalk.com/
Although they mainly talk about IP cameras (Wired) there are sections for wireless cameras as well.

Hello;

I' use the Foscam 9900 IP cam. It's working nice and until now never occurred a problem.
You can store a memory card inside. Regular firmware updates and easy installation. HD quality.
You may take a look at http://weerstationlinne.nl, were the image is uploaded.
With the foscam app its possible to look and change settings.
If this is the best weather cam ?? and affordable for a reasonable price ?

Hi Andy for the meteo web site I also use a Foscam fi9900ep wich is a good webcam and works really well . For the hives in Italy we use a lot trail cameras (I'm a beekeper too) that works well and are not too expensive. I have several of them in my apiaries. Give a look to my meteo webcam at www.meteosupino.it on the left corner of image you can see some of my hives. :D

Hi,

I've two Mobotix cameras installed 10 years ago!
Never had any problem. Lot's of configuration and image upload possibilities.
They are not cheap at all, but they are really good, no problem in 10 years out in the open.

Best regards

I just installed 2 SV3C 960p ipcams. I think they are decent, but when you factor in the cost,, they are fantastic!

I paid $43 at Amazon and in my opinion they look great. My timelaspe is compressed so you do not get the full effect, but I recently increased the quality (slightly). They are now $40, including next day delivery in my area (for prime members).

Also, I only bought one and three days later they emailed me and offered me another one for free if I wrote a review on Amazon (which I gladly did). So my final cost was $21.50 ea. I am sure they do not do that for everyone, but if you write them and offer, I bet they will take you up on it.

My daily timelapse from my template home page:

Also, I would be glad to help anyone getting the camera up and running if you PM me.

Totally missed the 4G requirement.

There seems to be Reolink available for certian countries.

I do not have this and can not comment on the hardware or usability. Just letting you know.
