Pictures from the icons directory are not displayed

Hello,

I'm about to set up the meteotemplate, but I have the following problem, no file from the /icons folder are displayed
for example /icons/menuDark.png

Files from all other directories are displayed correctly, e.g. /admin/adminIcons/mainSetup.png

Now I have created a ticket with my provider and received the following reply:
"Icons" is a default folder of the Apache web server and therefore can not be used!

What options do I have now?
Can the folder be renamed? Is there a setting (a variable in the php scripts) where this folder is defined?
