Windy Station Beta

Post by Dehatter » Mon Apr 22, 2019 11:36 pm

So....

If you have a meteobridge device, and a free Windy Account, you can easily be involved in the Windy Station beta program.

My station page:

https://www.windy.com/station/pws-f0795 ... ,-80.706,8

Link to register your station for the beta:

https://stations.windy.com/

Click the 'Register to Beta' button.

Once you get you station API key (the station ID does not matter to the meteobridge device) reboot your MB device to load the latest software (3.9-2057). You have to have 'Get Newest on Boot'. Select the 'Weather Network' tab and add Windy. Copy your API key from the registration page, and paste it into the space where it is requested.

After about 15 minutes you can go back to the Windy registration page only this time what you click the 'Register to Beta' button, your registered station is already listed. Click the button next to the pencil (mouse over says 'See at Windy.com').
This will take you to your station page and you can make this a bookmark or add it to the 'Weather Networks' block (with some alterations to the coding involved).

And that is it. You can look at the 'Weather Networks' block at the bottom left of my page and see how it can look and work.

Update - I did not see the thread under 'Ideas.' Sorry. No, IE 11 (Version 11.53.18362.0 with is the latest I can get) does not work. Edge/Chrome/Firefox/Opera do work.

Thank you Dehatter.

I also noticed that there was an update to meteobribge for Windy on 4/20 http://meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/Forum.
Just BE NICE! That's all it takes to be a decent human...

I believe if you register and acquire an API you can also use Weather Display

So...

I have discovered that if you report to CWOP your station has already been put in the beta program and is listed as a duplicate (usually).

Just kinda wondering why I would want to report to Windy twice.

I would save some processing on my MB and I probably would not have signed up if I had noticed that my station was already in the beta.

https://www.windy.com/station/madis-F23 ... ,-80.700,8 <— from CWOP
https://www.windy.com/station/pws-f0795 ... ,-80.704,8 <— New Windy Station

Both have the same data and both list the other as a duplicate.

My software updates much faster than CWOP. CWOP must update Windy only once every 30 minutes for so. I am using WeeWX to upload and it does it every 5 minutes.

Just not sure it’s worth repeating data on Windy. Not that mission critical for me to have 5 min data on that site so I personally will be removing the one I just created for MB.
