warningsUSblock and Special Weather Statement

Post by mchd17 » Sat Mar 17, 2018 1:06 pm

There is a Special Weather Statement for my zone, does this not show in warningsUSblock? I have doubled check the zone (ILZ038)for the block

It's not an Advisory, Watch or Warning. So maybe i just answered my own question :D

Not sure if this means that something is broken or not but when I checked the NWS there was an advisory for your area.

But nothing or your page about it. I will have to check my area more closely and report back.

I think special weather statements are not treated the same as watches, warnings and advisories and not listed on https://alerts.weather.gov, which is where this block is gathering its information. To pull this information would require some scraping of the local NWS page and seeing that each NWS is setup differently it would probably require some custom scripting to get this to show up.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to have this on my page too. I just know it would be a challenge to do.

We have a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" from the NWS

https://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx. ... er+Outlook

Wish those would show up in the warnings block

As it was mentioned earlier, the file with warnings etc. in machine-readable format does not include these, which is why they are not visible. Not much we can do Im afraid.
