Gauges block doesn't show on iPad

Post by ruud » Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:11 pm

Hello to all,

I'm new to the world of Meteotemplate. I'm really impressed but I also have a question.

I've setup my homepage with the standard Gauges block. It shows perfectly when accessed on a computer, but it stays empty when accessed on an iPad. I've tried with different generations of iPads and with two browsers (Safari and Firefox), and I made sure I was looking at the desktop version of the homepage (indexDesktop.php) and not the mobile version. The problem doesn't occur with the Steel Series gauges block.

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions how to solve this; I would like to use the homepage as a permanent weather station display and the standard gauges are far better readable from a distance than the Steel Series.

Thanks and kind regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud,

Can you include a link to your site, so that we can see the problem?

Hello John,

Thanks for your response. The link is http://fincadepinto.com/meteo/indexDesktop.php. When the exact same link is viewed on an iPad instead of a desktop, the gauges block remains empty. But perhaps hcorrin is right and the standard gauges won't display on iPads and iPhones at all...

Kind regards,
Ruud.

Hello again, John,

I just took a look at your weather websites; they are looking great. I noticed the same problem with the gauges on them: they do show on a desktop but they don't on an iPad. So I guess hcorrin is right...

Kind regards,
Ruud.

Hi,
I think this is one of the two problems with Ipads - menu and this. Im not sure why only ipads do this, Safari on Macs is fine, iPhones are fine... something odd about iPad browsers which I was unable to fix because I do not have an ipad, which makes it problematic to test. I tried a few things but users told me it did not help

Hello Jachym,

Thanks for your answer. For your information: I just viewed my web page with an iPhone 6 Plus and get the same empty block (Safari and Firefox). So it must be an iOS thing. The current condition blocks on John's website look great so I will opt for those instead. Thanks for making meteotemplate!

Kind regards,
Ruud.

Hi Ruud,

Just to reiterate what hcorrin and Jachym are saying, those dials are not working on my iPad either (not even with a different browser installed). So we are stuck with this for the time being.

By the way I like your home page, clear big and simple - looks good.

Hello, are there any ideas how solve the two problem (menu and gauges) on iOS devices? The menu problem on iPad is only with the mobile site. The desktop site is displayed correctly. Also the automatically redirection of the iPad to the desktop site didn't function.

How can I display the currenct wind direction with a symbol instead of a gauge?

Thank you.
Best regards,
Martin
