High wind resistance air beam Tent testing

Post by Micharnaud » Mon Feb 09, 2026 3:34 pm

I’ve been interested in how different structures handle high-altitude gusts, and air-frame designs seem to have a unique advantage. I recently tested an inflatable tent 6-8 person model in an exposed area. The Coody 13.6 is quite aerodynamic, and because the beams are air-filled, they flex under pressure and then return to their shape rather than reaching a breaking point like aluminum. It offers about 146 square feet of space and uses a heavy-duty poly-cotton blend that is much quieter in the wind than vibrating nylon. For researchers or anyone needing a temporary station in a windy spot, it’s a very stable design that stays for seasons.
