Blocks automatic installation

Post by davidefa » Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:20 am

Sorry to sound dumb ( but that's what I am )... but this feature does not work ( on my installation papaya 18.0 )
The page ( blockInstall.php ) loads correctly, but the table with the available blocks is empty.
I took a look to the code and have found the variable $availableBlocks ( that should contain the info of available blocks ) is not initialized.
Maybe this part has been accidentally deleted in this version?

Hello, Davide,

What do you mean by 'blocks automatic installation'? As far as my aging mind can recall there is no such thing. It is about 04:25 my time as I type, so please forgive my fuzzy brain should I have missed the obvious.

*************

Ah! It is now an hour or so later.
I think that I understand. I attempted to download the Italian forecast block from within the block setup > install new blocks. That showed me a full list of available blocks and a download option for blocks not already installed. Although the download was stated to have occurred and was installed that was not the case. Nor did it appear in my download folder.

However, I have not been able to download blocks from the Meteotemplate web site for many months now, so that might well be a different problem.

Regards,
John

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I don't even see the list of available blocks ( and I don't even see how this list is retrieved ).
Would you mind comparing the attached file with the one on your installation (path: admin/blockInstall.php )

Sorry, Davide, but I do not have time. I have over 500 e-mails awaiting my attention. It's also a long weekend here - which means children and grandchildren cluttering up the place.

Attached, if you have the time, is a copy of my file - which is the original.

Let us know your results, Davide, as it might help another member.

Cheers,
John

That did the trick. This also solves the problem of the incorrect files privileges I have installing the blocks manually.
The file I received was incomplete.
Now... I'm in like Flynn.

Thanks John

Thanks for these posts. I was having the same problem, and John’s file sorted it! Strange.
