Block auto update problem after update to V16

Hi, I updated to V16 this morning with no issues. Very nice. However, after my update (I did hit Save on the Menu setup) there was a notification that my stationAverages block was in need of an update. When I go into the Control Panel - Block install/update section as I always have and click the update icon, I get a popup with a page cannot be displayed error.
Am I doing something incorrectly in order to utilize the auto update process for blocks?
Thank you, I did search the forum and wasn't able to locate an answer or anyone with a similar issue. Sorry if I missed it discussed.

I know it does not work for some people. Question is whether the problem is on my side or your side. In case of https people it is obviously a problem with my server because https servers dont like loading zip files from http, in this case it is impossible to tell. Manual installations and updates can still be used perfectly fine.
If it turns out there are quite a significant number of people with this issue I will have to remove it, I would rather have something that works the same for everyone than having to explain "it does not work for you"

Hi,
Same issue here with the auto update, so i had to do this the manual way.
I would also like to know if there is a way to install blocks from the block setup screen without downloading them manually.
Cheers,
George

Thats how it was supposed to work, but obviously does not.
I will release an update soon and I will remove all the auto-updates, it causes more problems than good

When I installed ver16 the block auto update did not work. Looking at the blockInstallProcess.php, I could see that the block file was downloaded to the host server (MDD Hosting) but the process halted at the next step. Unzipping the file was not happening. Since the process was working for others, I thought this might be a problem with my php. Opening the cPanel I found that the default extensions settings for MDD Hosting did not select "zip". Pulling a check mark next to "zip" and pressing the save button corrected my auto update problem.

There are several potential issues, this ZIP thing being one of them and some people do not have the possibility to enable this in their cPanel. Similarly, many https people have a problem, some people on Windows servers... this really is not looking good and if I have to choose between a template with more features, but only working for some and a template with less features, but "bullet-proof", I prefer the latter

I am happy to assist in troubleshooting. When I select the update link on stationAverages, I get a popup window with a page cannot be displayed error.
Properties say it is attempting to go to
http://mywebsite/template/admin/blockUp ... erages_2.0
Would that be the correct path for this block update?

Hi,
please update the block manually like you were used to before, the auto-updates do not work as they should.

Thank you Gus. This was the gotcha I was caught by too. In CPanel I had enabled PHP7.1.9 to be on the bleeding edge, but the default extension config did not have ZIP enabled. A quick tick to enable and auto updating started working for me (from my https site too).
It is a shame that there are so many things stopping auto updates from working well but I understand by Jachym has taken the decision to remove this feature going forwards. If something designed to ease use creates more issues than it solves, then not having it is the best option.

Ha! This worked for me as well! A quick tick to allow zip in my PHP config and all is well. Auto updated flawlessly!
Thank you for the tip!

Well, for me, now that I have seen it in action, love the feature and would hope a way could be found to keep it!

Hello,
for me, you have to leave the automatic update. I have two sites with Meteotemplate, one at OVH where the update does not work and another at 1 & 1 where the update works.
I think some web hosts have a series of IP blacklisted at WEDOS.
have a good day

In which case there is no need to try any further, if certain providers in the US and other countries dont like my server IP...
