Wind gust

Post by Reinhard » Mon Oct 23, 2017 8:23 am

Hello,
today we had a wind gust of 77 km/h at 06:29, showing on my weather software as well as on the VantagePro2 console. Not showing anywhere in Meteotemplate except SteelSeries Live Gauges. Meteotemplate reports highest wind gust of 69.2 km/h at 07:20?!? Where else can I look to see the real high gust?
Thanks in advance,
Reinhard

If I remember correctly you are using WC, if so, then it should send the maximum value. However I cannot check this myself, I have no access to the code of WC. If WC sends current gust then it could be you dont see it because if it occured in between the db updates, it would be unregistered.
Try using the Data edit page, that will show you exactly what is in the db and if it is not there then it means WC did not send it because the API takes the maximum for G, so it would have been there.

Thank you for your reply - in the meantime we have had another high gust of 78.9 km/h at 11:31 and this value was taken correct into the database.

So if I understand correct, in some rare cases of coincidence it could happen that some highs or lows will stay unregistered?

Theoretically no, because WC should always send the maximum over the period since last update, but what exactly WC does is a question.

It takes care of my weather data since ten years. It collected and handles data of about 3.09 GB since 2008, those are - cut in 5-minute-slices to fit in Meteotemplate's alldata table - at now far more than 1 million measurements.

:D  :D

Hi Reinhard,

While I have not noticed anything like you are reported, as a fellow WeatherCat user I will keep an eye out for anything unusual. It is suppose to be windy here tomorrow so I will have some good data to watch.

Jay

p.s. Now you have me wondering how many recordsets I have in WC. I only have from 2010 to now uploaded to my website as that is when I moved to my current location then, but I do have data in WC back to June 2007. I think I probably join you in the WC million record club. Maybe we need to ask Stu for a banner or something!

So if WC acts like above, so does MB, but it has to be the SW not sending max wind values. Is there any chance that MT is not recording max values correctly?

He is having same issue as me, different SW
