Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
I've noticed that the date format of this block is in the mostly global standard, "day Month". Since the US needs to be different, can this block look to the date format from the main settings file to list as "Month day"? So instead of "31 October" it would be "October 31".
I know, us Americans are a pain.

Re: Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
Hi,
this is unfortunately a problem.
Because if you look in the setup, you only specify format for date + time, date and time.
But for date, it always includes the year. So in cases where we only want to show D + M, with no particular year (case of this block, we are talking about this day in general), the template has nothing to use

Understood... don't spend anymore time on this request. I'll just have to be happy using the global date format

Re: Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
theoretically the only solution is adding this as another time/date format in the Main setup. Technically possible of course, but not before next update of the whole template. This cannot be solved in this block

Hi Jachym and MonyMony,
See the following about date and time notations around the world:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country
There seems to be five different regions.
The US seems to have a population minority

Re: Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
It's a prickly subject, is it not?
In my communications, where it is possible, I use the 'international' or 'scientific' nomenclature. This is simply a cascading larger-to-lower representation of time - e.g. 2017-11-20 12:17:20.35
I wish the whole world would adopt that system as it would remove the current ambiguities which plague readers.

Re: Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
I always use Y-M-D, althouhg the most used format in CZ is D.M.Y.
I can understand both DMY and YMD, YMD is great for sorting because if you name files in this way they will be sorted in the correct chronological order.
One I simply cannot get my head around is why someone would use MDY

Re: Upcoming - Follow Date format from settings file
Because:
Nov 3, 2017 - this is absolutely clear Nov = November
11/3/2017 - this is unclear because you cant tell if it is Mar 11 or Nov 3. And in such case Y/M/D or D/M/Y makes more sense to me
