Mike West designed the block for the WU radar maps and shared the block setup. They'e cool aren't they?
He used a webcam block and inserted WU regional radar links in the url entry slot. You get the links from WU at the bottom right of the regional radar display. "Get Link" Make sure you animate the display then copy the link, otherwise you will only get a static image. I used the us and tacoma maps for my site, both animated.
Mike West named the block "nwswinter" Attached is the zip file.
Install as you would any block!!!!

Now, how do you get the interactive sticker on the signature block? I look cheesy without it. Here is mine.
http://remingtonweather.com/template/pl ... nteractive

I"ll be around if you need any help with WU.
OK Got it. This is a BLOCK right?

Yes. Just install nwswinter block on sever, then block setup on homepage, insert the coordinates in the URL space separated by a comma.
I have mine update every 300 seconds. Mike had 900.

Yes still studying the block. can't seem to find the url on wu's site. I forgot to tell you on the stickers plugin. Go to the folder containing bgs and delete or add jpg files to your liking. Since winter is over I uninstalled them till next winter and so on.

Replace Mike's links with the below separated by a comma.
https://icons.wxug.com/data/weather-map ... mation.gif
https://icons.wxug.com/data/weather-map ... mation.gif

On WU site go "maps and radar" select "radar maps" which will open to the US image. Off to the right is the region drop down.

They are going through a big transition with severs and everything. Lot of stuff not working right yet. Give it time. The animation button does not always work on the radar page.
I would just plug in those links in the nwswinter setup page, save a go. Should work.

They are not movable. On WU there is a carrot on each side that will take you to the next region.

Check your URL for "animation" just before the ".gif" It should have a "-" in front.

Andy,
I really like how you incorporated all the radar maps and added the menu! How did you do the menu?

Have you been able to get these on your site? And do they work?

Thanks again for your help yesterday.

Hi PCW!

It is very simple to do and is created in your Desktop Homepage. "Log in as administrator then In that section look for Desktop Homepage" you create in one of the columns ... I chose middle as it is the largest colume. Then look for ADD NEW MENU BLOCK" add the line like this.

Code: Select all

menuBlock(WU/Windy Radar/NOAA/GFS/Lightening/Current Map,nwswinter;windy;radarUS;lightning;currentMap;gfs)
It should look like this"

menuBlock(WU/Windy Radar/NOAA/GFS/Lightening/Current
Map,nwswinter;windy;radarUS;lightning;currentMap;gfs)

Or copy the above line to one of your columns and make sure those blocks are installed and setup.
That is all to it. The actual direction are located on Meteotemple's site in the wiki

My Firefox screen capture is not working so not very helpful that way.

Thanks Andy!! I'll give it go when I get some more radar maps.
Where did you put the "animate" in the Radar Summary URL to get the moving map?

Next BIG topic is getting my webcam on my site. I have a single Foscam 19900 that can schedule and send snaps anywhere. I have a FTP account on my host server and all the blocks and plugins installed. I have FTP'd images to my host successfully(reverted back to WU for now until I figure out the next step).

Are you a guru on this subject?

Thanks for your help.

Not really a guru, Jachym and a few others maybe. I learned the way you are now by just asking.

Yes I can help with the Foscam set up just need to figure out why I can't add attachments or screen shots which would make it much easier to visualize.

One thing I need to know is what weather array you are using, A meteobridge? etc... Nevermind, I see your using a Davis Pro 2. Still new to know how you are feeding, USB, meteobridge, nano etc.

Andy,
Meteobridge and Davis Vantage Pro2 model 6152. UV and solar not a big issue where I live outside Seattle.
I think I understand how to set up the camera, the issue is once the image is in my https ftp folder on server, and how push/pull or whatever is needed to have the webcam block and/or plugin upload the image to my website.
I've gone over the wiki and forum until my nose bleeds and can't grasp the big picture.
I can send you screenshots of server structure, and any thing else if you can get me through the transition.
What say ye?

OK the metrobridge makes it a bit easier. The Foscam F19900 is also easy to ftp to your host. A few modes need to be made in the Webcam blocks and plugins and that's pretty much it. Still working on a screenshot or attachment setting here as nothing I am doing allows me to add one. I will get back to you. Set up camera's settings to ftp to your host. Before that set up a sub domain at your site and a folder called just "cam" in the root directory.

FTP Cam setting = ftp://homeyour host account number here..1and1-data.host/cam/IPCAM (Or your hosts setup)
Port 21
Ftp Mode: passive
Your host user name
Your host password
then hit test to make sure it is sending to your host.

Meteobridge
Weather Station, Meteobridge Weather cam Section chose external picture. URL= https://cam.Your host URL/webcam/webcamimage.jpg

In Weather networks section Add Meteobridge Weather Camera and your selected settings.

In Services Section fill out the FTP/SFTP section at the bottom.

I'll have to get back to you on the Webcam block and plugins as I'm out of time.

Don't have a lot of time to spend here tonight. You can Get ahold of Dehatter also as he is very knowledgeable with cam set ups also.
