Hi,
my name is Jachym, some of you might know me already
I´m 30yrs old and I live in Brno, Czech Republic, about 200km SE from Prague.
I´ve always been fascinated by data in general. My mom told me when I was 3 I stood next to the window and counted how many cars pass on our street...
Weather is my hobby as well as programming and that combination resulted in me deciding to create a website template, initially just for myself, later transforming it into a customizable template for others. I didn´t know anything about HTML, PHP etc. but the already existing templates available back then (Saratoga, Leuven), despite being very nice, did not provide the major thing I wanted - my own database.
Apart from data, weather and computers my other hobbies are mountain biking, digital macrophotography (in the past before my DSLR broke), all new technologies and Im also very interested in neurosciences, neuropsychology and brain in general, which is partly why I chose to do Msc in Molecular Bio and Genetics. When I was younger I loved to do jigsaw puzzles, but because I always wanted a larger one, I then got to a point where each took weeks to do and I don´t have the time now.
I don´t watch TV or movies much, I personally see it as waste of time, but I do have a few that I like - Forrest Gump, Star Wars, Friends and Mr.Bean
I can listen to pretty much anything except a few genres (country, jazz etc.). Usually when Im exercising or in a good mood I listen to some trance music (DJ Tiesto and similar), when I need to concentrate something more relaxing (Enya, Vangelis).
I don´t have any pets, primarily because Im allergic to fur and because I live in a very small flat. Also, after even a cactus died in my flat I decided to put my gardening skills on hold.
I currently work as a meteorologist at the Czech NWS, but I spend most of my time at work doing statistical analysis of the climate, developing algorithms.
I have two younger sisters, both of whom are totally different than me.
I am very communicative, in fact I usually talk way too much, which those of you who ever had a Skype call with me probably noticed (sorry... I can´t help it).
I also like Google and use most of their products, and I am a fan of open-source, at home I use Linux, Libre Office.
