My first real weather station was a Davis station on the roof of my business in Downtown Pueblo, Colorado. I don't recall the specific station type at this point. The year was 2001. The software package I used to update my weather site was Virtual Weather Station. This was the first station in my area to send data to WUnderground which assigned me station ID KCOPUEBL1 (the first one). My web site for this station became quite popular around town and was actually used on a regular basis by city officials to make weather related decisions on things such as street repairs. I recently sold that building so the station is no longer in operation.
In 2011 I bought a Davis Pro 2 Plus Wireless with fan aspirated and installed it at my home. It also ran Virtual Weather Station software to send data to various weather servers as well as to update my own weather page for that station. While I liked what VWS software allowed me to do with my data and my page, it was prone to lockups and crashes. It also required a computer to run at all times. Unfortunately updates to VWS stopped, and it eventually became incompatible with weather servers I was associated with. Earlier this year I bought a Meteobridge Pro and converted everything so that this site now runs using Meteotemplate.
In 2016 I bought a place high in the mountains outside of Divide, Colorado. The altitude is over 9000 feet. I had always wanted a place in the mountains, and of course I immediately installed a weather station there. It was an Ambient Weather WS 1400 ip Observer with a Meteobridge. The 1400 had intermittent problems communicating with the Meteobridge that I was unable to resolve. Earlier this year I was finally able to replace it with a better weather station. It is now a Davis Pro 2 Plus Wirelss with fan aspirated. It is hardwired to the Meteobridge via USB. My site for this station also runs using Meteotemplate.
I am very happy with Meteotemplate and the whole concept that Jachym has divised allowing so much diversity in what we want to display and how we want it to look. I'm happy to be a member of the Meteotemplate family.
