Over the past year, whenever an update for a block or plugin has been released, I have simply uploaded the new files to my server, overwriting any pre-existing ones.

I notice on another thread here that Jachym says that any files not included in an update are now redundant and can be deleted from the sever. There may therefore be dozens of redundant files on my server which could be deleted to save space.

Is there an easy way to do this, or could such a facility be added to the control panel? It would take a long time to check all the folders manually!

the files can just stay there, they will not slow down your template and given the entire main template has 50MBs, I dont think space should be an issue.
Checking this manually is basically impossible because it would require making and constantly updating list of all files in the template. Some folders have thousands (eg. the METAR one).
