Hi guys,
another bad news - Weather Underground announced the end of free API keys. No matter if you send them data or not, you will now have to pay for the key - and not a bargain - starting from 800USD/month...
Charging you for the data you send them, this is what I call a business plan.
At this point I cannot say what scripts will stop working, obviously there is quite a few of blocks and plugins which use WU, it is not certain to what extent this will affect them...

Hi Everyone,
In my case I cancel all my relation wirh wunderground. I stop sending my date to them and to CWOP also.
If they think I will continue to supply to them MY data and they will charge me to get it back, they are stupid.
That's my opinion.

Hi Sylvain,
I agree with you 100%, the only issue is that unfortunately, 99% users have their stations, which automatically send data to WU, they maybe dont even know it, dont use the API and in that case it means that WU absolutely does not care if they lose that 1% and will not change anything.
For me this is not a surprise move from WU given the experience Ive had with them

Probably the funniest thing of their statement is this:
To improve our services and
enhance the relationship with our users, we will no longer provide free weather API keys as part of our program.

They've also ditched an app for phones and tablets called Storm and replaced it with a sub-standard version, this may have been something to do with the recent GDPR changes. I've now changed to a new radar app called RainViewer by Oleksii Schastlyvyi - which works just as good and the paid version has no ads. (No affiliation to this app I promise)

Even Weather Underground compliance to view your own WU page is scary, I opted out of as many options as I could. On your WU page click on the settings cog, then 'Privacy Preferences', then under Internet Based Advertising click on 'View Cookies' - scary list.

Having read all the info I could on WU the past week after they sent a new privacy policy and shut off my api key and reading the massive complaints about how this will improve our user experience I fail to see how. I already put notice in my WU site
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-w ... M2#history and due to limited space I could not add I am also shutting down CWOP feeds since they also supply WU with our data. I spent months calibrating my station to within .02 +/- every parameter to be as accurate as possible. I have gained a reasonable number of local users to keep MT up and feed most weather sites worldwide except WU and CWOP due to there brazen filthy user policy. I have contacted WU and both CWOP several times this week with absolutely no response back and am guessing I will never receive one. Mostly everything on MT WU related still works... I think... but am guessing that will change in the future. Am sure this is giving Jachym headaches trying to keep on top of it.
Update: I think I ran into the first problem at:
https://www.nicomaparkweather.com/npw/p ... /index.php
Invalid METAR ID KOKC, Invalid METAR ID KRCE, Invalid METAR ID KPWA. Even other states no longer work. Not sure if this is WU related yet but KOKC is a valid metar site.
Edit: 5-30-2018 4:56am.
Rechecking my local METAR site KOKC I found it is again working. I suspect that NWS or NOAA may have been down when I checked to see if it was working.
