Normals introduced in version 16

In version 16 there is a new parameter to set up in Administration/Main Setup called Normals. These are a set of twelve monthly temperature readings and twelve monthly precipitation readings.

The ones that are pre-populated are those of Jachym's home town of Brno, so it's a good idea to replace these with a set from your own locality. Ideally you'd seek these from a long term reliable source, in my case I'm using Jachym's plugin called UKmaps which displays data from the UK Met Office.

I'm sure you will find many sources available to you for your country and region. If you do know of good sources please mention them below for other's to possibly use.

For Germany, you can find the average monthly temperatures and precipitation here.
A click on the links opens a new window. Data is available for the longterm periods of 1961-1990 (which is still used by German Weather Service), 1971-2000 and also 1981-2010.

FYI, for anyone using the new NORMALS and also setting precipitation to Inches, please be aware the setting is reverting to mm if you reload the setup.php. The work-around is just to change it back to inches unit until an update is available. I have posted this in the problems section (viewtopic.php?f=51&t=241).

For US climate information, the National Weather Service has lots of information available. You can go to http://w2.weather.gov/climate/ and then navigate to your local office for more details.

Thanks - but that doesn't help. Now that I got a series from 1980 to 2015 from an official nearby station I want to ask again:

What Blocks take advantage of this settings in the Main Setup? (iatros, you mentioned Deviations [stationDeviations?] but herein you have to do the normals within the Block in its settings. dailyDeviations not installed, therefore I can nothing say to this.)

What PlugIns take advantage of this settings in the Main Setup?

Thanks in advance,
Reinhard

This is all I can find about normals in the documentations:

Main setup:
For some sensible comparisons it is essential to have long-term series of data, ideally one normal period (in meteteorology a normal is a 30-year period, a strict normal is a particular 30-year period - 1961-1990). Assuming you do not have 30-year series of measurement it is necessary you provide normals for your region using data from the closest available station with such series. Ideally try to find data from some nearby professional station.
Blog introducing Physalis:
normals – in the Main setup you can now specify long-term temperature and precipitation normals – ideally data from some nearby professional station with a data series for at least 30 years. This is then used to compare your data with real long-term averages (so far the template used all data from your db, which however in some cases could be just a very few yrs, if not just a yr, i.e. more or less statistically irrelevant)
All a little bit foggy...

It is used in monthly and annual reports, deviations block and precipitation analysis plugin

As I stated former, the deviations block does not care what is the input from Main setup, it uses its own settings. At least for me.

Sorry to be annoying - but I cannot confirm. At least I am blind and cannot see it, but in Reports (Month or Year) there is no single hint to a "normal":
