Hello everybody,

do we have news on the new meteotemplate coming soon?

What graphics will it have? Are there any previews?

Jackym hasn't been posting news on the blog for some time, let us know we're curious :D ;)

Why do we need a new version? Current version is working perfect.

Because PHP 7.4 expires at the end of this year (12-31-2022) or (31-12-2022) depending where in the world you are, and a lot of sites are having trouble now migrating to PHP 8.0

You said very well, given that we know that jachym has been working on a new version for 2 years, no updates for the modules have been received for 1 year. I think we should switch to HTML5 as a language. Let's see if @jachym gives us any news about when the new version will come out.

Tried it and somethings that worked in PHP 7.4 no longer work and some blocks and plug in's do not work for me. It may be my host www.ionas.com but it shows a blank screen or site is just hung at the moment I change to php 8.0 or 8.1. No database uploads or api.php updates. Well I have till the end year. Not paying my host and extra $8-9 dollars for 7.4 support after that.

Hello,

No, no, you are absolutely right.
If I install, in one block, the php 8 version of @davidefa, I have a fatal error under PHP 8.1 and a white page which is displayed.
So I install the new files piece by piece. When it works, I keep. Otherwise I revert to the previous version.
ln php 7.4: http://template.lemimi.fr/indexDesktop.php
ln php 8.1: http://www.template-php8.lemimi.fr/indexDesktop.php

Have a nice day... Michael

Yesterday my host https://obambu.com/ broke down for 17 hours :-(

Hello Michael!

I've done what you have but it does not work for me. It must be my host. I've updated all my files to Davids php 8.0 and 8.1 versions but no. I'm sort of stuck at the moment at php 7.4

@lemimi Thanks for the reply.

I read your post a few times and re-downloaded all of Davids updates. I noticed and I don't remember where but there are a few different versions of his php8.1 php 8.1.1 with different sizes. Not having a dedicated sub forum for Davids work is hampering everyone trying to beat the 12-31-2022 or 31-12-2022 however you look at it.

As I said. I re downloaded everything I could find and re-read every forum mentioning updating to php 8.0 and 8.1

I wish I took notes or remembered what version of blocks and plugins I used but in a hurry I don't. I first used his ultimate admin mod that made it easier to get things sorted and needed.

I used his newest api.php which is 3.5 I'm fairly sure. I uploaded each of his php 8.1.1 one at a time placing the updates in the correct directories. After spending hours getting things sorted and modifying for my needs I turned on php 8.0 at my host and waited. It takes up to 5 minutes to see results in some blocks and plugins but no more white screen this time.

Yes, some blocks stop working (USWarnings and ecowitt plugin) but that's for an other day.

My ecowitt plugin is the most important issue as my api viewer switches back and forth from meteobridge to ecowitt plugin and time jumping backwards by minutes and time freezing for minutes sometimes causing my APRS and CWOP to fail and then with old data jumping all over the place.

Have gone through the ecowitt plugin code and can't find what is causing the jumping around from meteobridge to ecowitt plugin.

I need to turn on error capture in the api.php file after I'm done this to capture a log.

I'm pretty sure David knows how to retrieve it to look at it.

Other than a few block and plug in errors it works for the most part... I think.

I once again want and need to THANK David for his work and helping others. There is a lot to go back and read. Go slow and keep trying.

I forgot to mention I am on php 8.1 at my host site and for the most part as I said it is working.

Andy.

Edit: If I can help anyone find updates to David's posts walking us through this process I will try and help but the search here is your friend.

@ David

After looking for errors trying to find why my apiviewer.php is switcing back and forth I found this in my updateLog.txt file in the cach folder.

Authorized access.

Current date/time: 2022-11-17 17:20:01

logdata from update/update.php

Generating log file cache/updateLog.txt

ERRORS:

apiUpdate: no valid type given in updateSettings.php.

I have the (https://www.nicomaparkwx.com/wx/update/updateSetup.php) setting set to API if that's what the error is refering to. Any idea's?

We hope that the new year also brings us the new version of meteotemplate.

Has anyone happened to get any updates or news from Jachym?

Hello,
I believe Jachym's last intervention is this:
http://www.meteotemplate.com/forum/view ... 852#p11852
Even if he doesn't express himself often, he seems to follow his baby :-) and seems ready to make it evolve.
Good day to all... Michel

We hope we will soon have the new version of meteotemplate also lightened, in all its being.
