Hi!
My name is Olav Krogsaeter, and I'm a professional meteorologist, with a PhD in meteorology, working at StormGeo in Bergen, Norway.
I live on an island called Sotra, which is located 25 km west of Bergen in W Norway, and very close to the North Sea, so it's a windy and rainy location in the middle of the polar front weather! Yesterday we had 25 m/s gusts, and the day before 30,9 m/s!!
I put up my meteotemplate weather site just one week ago. You can look at the site here:

Hi Olav,
Welcome to the forum.
Very nice site. I see that you mention you upgraded the WH1080 with a better radiation shield.
Would you care to detail what you did exactly and maybe post a couple of pictures ?
I have the same station and I am curious about your upgrade. Did you notice the impact of your upgrade in your readings ?
Cheers,
Pol-Brieuc

Hi!
Here is my original setup:
and here is a picture with the upgraded radiation shield:
Link to the new shield:

It make a big difference. The original shield gave me 2-3 degrees too high temperatures in sunny weather, compared with nearby stations and another sensor that I have in the shadow, so the new (and big!) radiation shield is definitely worth the money
I have also made another change from the original setup. The rain gauge is now mounted at the roof top, instead of in the mast. When it was on the mast it gave too high readings in strong winds, because of the movements of the mast, which caused the tipping bucket to empty too often.
(sorry for wrong rotation of the pictures.....but I couldn't make it right....)

Thanks a lot. This is exactly what I need to do on my station (add a better shield and move the rain gauge)

Hi Olav,
Welcome to the forum !
I like visiting new sites, specially when they are located far from Switzerland. It makes me travel...
I see that your current temp is significantly higher that here (7 vs 0). Sea influence I guess !
See you,
Alain

Thanks Alain! Right now it is very mild because we are in the middle of a warm sector in connection with a storm center up in the far north of Barents Sea, but tomorrow a cold front will pass across so we expect cooler later on tomorrow. But, yes, it is generally mild along the western coast of Norway due to the proximity of the North Sea. It is much colder inland. Today we had even 15 degrees at the warmest places, which is unusual in December, but in the inland of N-Norway there was -30!!
I have been in Switzerland twice. One time I was one week in Zurich on a conference, and after the conference I went to the Davos region and did some hiking in the mountains - very nice in the Alps
