This is what I would call an ideal summer for me - temperatures here around 20°C during the day and 10°C at night (68/50F)mostly cloudy and a bit windy. Even at home it finally got a bit colder :D

We had a sunny and chilly day here at the Coast, high was 20.3°C (68°F) but felt quite comfortable in the sun.

Summers in NY can get brutal. This year it hasn’t been too bad. The humidity is what puts people over the edge. Those 100F plus days with a 60% plus humidity is NOT FUN in a suit and tie

Hi everyone,

Get a huge thunderstorm this afternoon in my area (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada). Lot of rain and wind.

See the video at: http://www.scadie.com/Orage.mp4

Hi scadie,

Just watched your video 'The Lonely Blue Bin'- that's quite a storm, how much rain did you have for the day? I live about 30km north west of the centre of London, so we probably get the least inclement weather for the whole of Britain. Scotland, Wales and Cornwall probably get the roughest weather here.

Had to download the video to watch it by the way.

That's a lot of rain in a short space of time. Sounds really nurdy, but you can't beat a good thunderstorm - listening to the rain belting down and the deep tumble of thunder (of course whilst you're nice and dry inside).

Maybe we should have a Meteotemplate YouTube channel where forum members can upload their extreme weather clips.

Not a bad idea, although question is how much it would be used and how to prevent someone misusing it if many people had access.

Last night some stations recorded record low temperature for Aug 23, usually around 2-3°C, this night should be a bit warmer.

And here its quite the contrary- we started with a low of 8.6°C (48°F) this morning, which was a new record low for the day, but during the day we still warmed up to a high of 23.7°C (75°F).
It has been a quite unusual summer here in Northern Germany this year, barely any hot day and also just five to six days per month in June, July and August with a maximum of 25°C (77°F) or more.

At least i had never seen such a summer since i started recording- our official weather station of the German Weather Service didn't even hit the 30s°C yet (maximum there was 29.5°C (85°F))- last time we had a summer without the 30s was back in 1993.

Absolutely and this year it is also very striking within our country, southern and western parts of Germany had a rather warm summer so far (western parts more pronounced in June though) and the northern and eastern parts had a summer with more or less uniform temperatures, with barely any higher extremes. Usually we get a few 30+ days each year, in some years even 35+ had already occurred here, but apparently not this year.

Looks like late summer is knocking on the door, currently 21°C (70°F) and sunny, for tomorrow even a 25+°C is possible. 8-)
