Hi,
As some of you, I think, I don't let my PC switchOn all the day and night, and so I use the Datalogger function to restaure Data from my WMR200 Weather Station.
It's very complicated and time consumming to copy from the Weather station to WeatherDisplay and after that to donwload the data to Meteotemplate every day.
What's your experience on this feature and how are you managing it?
Thanks for your returns
Didier

Hi Didier,
I agree that if you do not let your computer on 24 hours a day then this is not the best way of doing this. I am in a similar situation and I would recommend looking at Meteobridge, which will do this for you and you don´t need computer on.

Hi Didiersm,
NUC is a good way to go, I use a basic laptop which which uses 9 watts of power. This is much lower than my main PC which would draw considerably more and would be expensive if left on 24-7.
You can set Windows up to remain on and not go to sleep when you close the lid at night.

Yes Johnny, I have actually a big Desktop !!!
I think today the best way is a NUC, it is powerfull and less watts consumer

Hi,
I do also turn off my Laptop during the night and also when i am away for some longer time- my Laptop is quite old and for this reason i'm also a bit worried, when it runs unattended for hours, while i'm not at home or asleep.
Right now, i have set Weather Display to automatically upload the monthly logfile every few hours, and i also have the monthly logfile settings saved in the "Data Import Tab" so that data can be updated with just one click and i only need to change the settings once per month.

Hi
I have had a Asus EEE running 24/7 for 8 years without any problems.
Just changed it to a small new HP notebook running full time with screen off (about 8 - 9 watt).
I am using TeamViewer to connect to it, both when i am home or away from home.
It is even possible to manage it from my android phone, also restarting the computer.
As i have several cameras running both online and offline, i always have the possibility to check my home as long as there power on the house.
(If the power fails i have an appointment with my neighbour about pressing the start button, which loads and start up all weather related, including reading missed data, and starting all the cameras automatically)

Hello,
I use an ultra compact PC of the brand Vorke V2, there is no OS installed, works very well with Unbutu,. I personally installed Win 10, no problem since January, running 24/24.
I access the box from my PC using VNC. I use it with Weather Display I use it also for my webcams.
Good night
