Hello all. While in trying to set up menus, I clicked the link in paragraph next to Add New Tab that is supposed to open /template/admin/menu/menuIcons.php. I was trying to add in a new tab and wanted to reference that to see about the icons available. When I click on it, a new tab opens in my browser, and then Chrome says, "This page isn't working. currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500." I tried opening the same link in Firefox, and only got a blank page - no error message. I get the 500 error in IE11 and Edge also.
Initially, I thought it might be because I named the template subfolder "meteotemplate" rather than just "template". So I renamed the folder and changed the setup config to use that folder. Same problem. I tried moving the menuIcons.php to another folder and opening it there. No luck. I even tried unzipping the file from the distribution I downloaded and replacing the file (just in case it was corrupted or something). Still no joy. When I open the file in a text editor, there are a lot of crazy-looking characters in the file (very small example: ú48üÒ4¤ÿ6ë6²) Not sure if this is normal, or if I do have a corrupt file, or if something else is going on. Another interesting item: when I open the file in ConTEXT (a third-party editor), it shows 2627 lines, but Dreamweaver shows only 57 lines of code that end with the jumble characters.
Hopefully a simple fix. Is there anywhere else I can go to see the reference for that? Any pointers/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
no you should not see such characters and they are not in the default download file.
Never move files around because you will break the relative paths.
Please check that the file you downloaded does not have these characters. Then try replacing it on your server where it belongs (admin/menu/menuIcons.php). If that still causes issues email me your admin password and link to the page

Re: menuIcons.php - HTTP Error 500
Thanks for the replies. @Fraggboy: looks like Notepad++ is pretty similar to ConTEXT (www.contexteditor.org). I've used it for a long time and it has served me well. I only opened the file in Dreamweaver to see if it was showing me the same stuff as ConTEXT did (and, for that matter, the regular Windows Notepad). I haven't had any other problems with setting up menus or anything, and I did go through all of the documentation and forums searching for a solution. I've been successful with some other mods; just not this particular thing. I really think it is something in the file I got in the download (maybe).
@Jachym: With your comment about seeing those characters, I'm thinking I may have a corrupt file. Everything else in the zip file I downloaded seems to be working fine thus far. I did have the thought that maybe the file is corrupt somehow when I saw those characters (and there are a LOT of them; the file is full of them; will attach to the email I send). I downloaded the file from my provider and looked at it and saw those characters, so I thought maybe my upload was corrupted. I then unzipped the file I downloaded from your site with your token the other day, and I'm seeing the same thing from the freshly-unzipped and not uploaded file - all of those funky characters. I went ahead and replaced the file with the newly unzipped file, and I'm still getting the 500 error. I'll go ahead and shoot you the info you requested (along with the file with the funky characters) and we can go from there.
Thanks again to everyone for the input and help.

Corrupt file in the zip package was the problem. Jachym sent me another file, and all is well and working now. Thanks for everyone's help.
