Steel Series Wind

Post by Smithee » Thu Oct 05, 2017 8:48 pm

Evening,

The set up of the steel series plugin is fantastic - just wondering if the wind dial could be wind gust, it seems to be average and it would be nice to have the option to display data from the wind gusts if possible - perhaps a separate dial?

Hi Andy,
the gust is shown as a red highlight in the wind gauge.

Yep i noted that - just wondering if it could be the pointer however as thats more dynamic and in previous steel series set ups the wind gust is the most notable gauge - show just flagging that it might be a nice option to have.

Its notably easier to set up the look at feel of steel series using the template though!

Turns out its an easy fix (sorry i should have simply edited it myself rather than post - just swap the w/g in ssmeteotemplate.php) - mine now has the gusts as the main wind speed.

Hi,
yes, that is an easy change, it would however be much more complicated to try to add a second pointer with G, that would in fact require rewriting the entire gauge function

Hey, thanks for that tip, Andy.

Whilst I'm quite sure that more people than I (farmers/graziers/horticulturists ...) prefer the average wind speed, I too like the gust speed being the predominant indicator.

I'm off to wreck my site - again.
