Hi everyone, I have an idea in my head that may be totally unrealistic. I do NOT want to put a certain additional block (i.e. not a default one)on my homepage but DO want to give access to it through a link I have created in a Menu Tab. The WIKI covers plugins in some detail but seems to trail off when it comes to blocks. Any guidance would be most helpful. If I can get just one set up like that then it would get over a big hurdle in my head. I would then have a model that I can refer back to from time to time

Hi Steve,
sorry Im not sure what exactly you are trying to do, all that is possible to do with blocks is explained in the wiki, so it could be that what you are trying to do is not possible. If you want to place a block in the main menu then this is not possible. Blocks are widgets that can only be run from within the homepage, not like plugins. Plugins are plugins, blocks are blocks

Re: Adding a Menu Tab that links to a block not installed on your homepage
Hi Jachym,
thanks for the reply. Let me enlarge on my idea. I think it looks possible to "hide" one of the blocks so that only the administrator can see it, perhaps at the very bottom of the homepage. Once that is done, is it then possible to put an internal link on the menu which directs a visitor to the hidden block. I have tried various combinations to do precisely that but none work, so I thought to ask here to stop me wasting my time on something that cannot happen
regards Steve

Still unsure what you mean. There are admin blocks, which can be hidden from regular user. And those are always hidden. An admin block will always only be visible to you if you are logged in as admin, no link will allow showing this because it could be misused very easily.
