After some work in Weatherdisplay I have my webcam images being generated and uploaded to the server.
My cron job is triggering the script correctly as the images and thumbnails are being placed in the database and I can see them on the server using my ftp program.
When I view the webcam plugin on my site, there are just black images instead of thumbnails shown but if I click a thumbnail. it pops up correctly. Page here - http://weather.madpaddler.scot/template ... /index.php
It seems like I must be missing a step somewhere - or possibly there is a php module missing on my server.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all?
Thanks in anticipation
Gavin

Re: No Thumbnails in webcam plugin
a couple of weird things going on...
1- Your image is not being updated in a timely manner
2- when I call the thumbnail file directly (as in http://weather.madpaddler.scot/template ... 280430.jpg) all I get is the black box, which would be correct per the plugin display
3- On your homepage, the timelapse seems to work, sometimes....updates to the image are much longer than the time updates counting off below it (your timestamp and the camera time do not match as well).
Not sure why any of this is happening, but I would guess it is either something like a database error, cron error, or a hosting error, but the images are not being transferred to the server for some reason. Ultimately, the thumbnail is not being created even though the timestamped image is there.
image path = http://weather.madpaddler.scot/template ... 280422.jpg
Thumbnail path = http://weather.madpaddler.scot/template ... 280422.jpg
The paths are correct but nothing bot the black box in in the thumbnail folder.

Re: No Thumbnails in webcam plugin
Thanks Tom. This gives me some ideas to work on starting with the original images being created on the weather pc.
I’ll start there and work my way along the chain!
Thanks again!

Re: No Thumbnails in webcam plugin
Looks like things are sorted now.
I started from the camera file creation on the weather pc and worked through each stage and now seem to have thumbnails.
I reduced the frequency of file creation to every 10 minutes. Now all I want to do is improve the camera image quality - it's not the best and does suffer over exposure at times.
The time stamps are out by an hour as the pc remains on GMT all year round.
Thanks to Tom's fresh pair of eyes

Hi Gavin,
To help with the over exposure problem you could place an ND filter in front of the lens, this will stop down the amount of light coming in. These come in all shapes and sizes, you might be able to buy the sheet type that you can cut with a scissors and silicone it to the lens mount. Alas ND filters are not cheap. The manufacturer of your camera may even have these as option extras to screw on the lens.
