Hi,
ideally use PHPMyAdmin to export the db as an SQL file and then use PHPMyAdmin on the new server to import the SQL file.

I did the same, move to a new host server and it was a nightmare.

First off make a good backup of your entire old hosts files.

The host I moved to offered to copy all your old hosts files for free and that's where my problems started. They copied it alright but to a different subdirectory because they used a different version of Control Panel with out the option of letting you choose your root directory. The problem was in renaming all your index.html and subdomains and the version of MySQL and MYPHP.

It would be a good idea to ask first and see what version of Control Panel they use so you'll know in advance.

Andy

P.S. As Jachym said... Use your own copy of MYPHP and MYSQL to copy to the new Hosts Directory where the main database is. I wish I did the same as I had to delete and reimport by year one at a time and had a lot of errors doing so. If you go that route if you have problems do yourself a favor if you have time and import at one month at a time and no more than one year at a time depending on how large your data base is.

Well the easiest way to move your site is make a complete back up (I used FileZila). Copy it to your home computer to a directory you will remember such as 9-2-2018Weather or your country date format. Make sure you also copy the data base file as it normally is in a different directory on your host server site for security or use Meteotemplates built in backup and copy each year one at a time then the mail files and settings.

Call your new Host server's tech support if they offer that service and ask what the root directory will be and then you only need to redirect/rewite your index.html and ,htaccess files, set up your subdomain's if you had any and or ask if they will copy all your files for you. Most move your files for free but that does not always work correctly as the root director may or may not be in a say ./ folder. Eitherway make sure before you move that you have a complete backup on your own computer first. Dependig how big your site is it could range from say 500 mbits to well over 1.5 gbits Mine is 1.4 gbits as I have 10 or 11 years of data and most of Meteotemplates blocks and plugin's and not all are used.

I have a 300mbit and 30mbit upload spreeds and it takes me around 20-30 min for a complete backup.

If I missed anything fell free to ask.

Andy

P.S. When moving remember the new DNS may take 24-48 hours to show your new site so keep your old site at least that long so there's no interruption.

Try or avoid free SSL certificates (https://) if you can as they don't always work and moving paid certificates also take 24-72 hours to show as your new site. A pain HUH?

I almost forgot the most important part. Make a note of your old DNS server ip's and also the new site should email you the new DNS server numbers. These are the ones that can take up to 24-48-72 hours to start redirecting to your new site. Sometimes you have to do this yourself and some offer to do it for you so ask.

Yep, just copy all the new meteotemplate files over and set it up as you want. Rebuild the blocks and plugin's the way you want and upload your backup database files and is should work just fine other than the time to rebuild.

do you have a fresh copy of MT?

If I understood you correctly... you do not have a backup of your previously good, working MT from your old Host server. If so then yes you would need to start over. Main settings is the most important right off the bat to get correct the first time. Take your time and make sure you get first setup right.

Yep I see. I think you have an https certificate problem. As I said before it may take 24-72 hours for it to catch up. Is it a free cert? Did you get a temporary dns from your new host. I am sure it's just a matter of time. Call your new host tech support if available and sometimes they can fix it quicker.

I tried your site in just http://.......................... and it works fine. I'm sure in 24-48 hours it should work with the https://
All the domain name sites servers have to catch up all over the world (DNS) there are about 7 spread out and once that is done your site will work. For now just try:

http://www.ilfracombeweather.info/templ ... esktop.php

and it should work for you.

Andy

Also... your weatherstation is not sending data yet. make sure the new Dastabase name, Database user name, password etc is correct in main setup then test it to make sure the DB file is accepting data to the right location.

Are you able to import your old data or have you tried? It is fairly easy just take your time. Ask if you need help with that.

Having used all 3, I.E.11, Chrome, and FireFox I am seeing your page no Problem http://www.ilfracombeweather.info/templ ... esktop.php

The https:// version still does not work but that would be a SSL certificate problem if you are still trying to go that route. Calling your ISP would be a good start to fix that problem.

Other than that I am not seeing any errors or problems.

Andy

I forgot to mention MS Edge also works no problem.

Maybe not your PC. I don't have time to look but there are several posts talking about this issue also and it concerned the version of browser you where using i.e. chrome. Certain versions of Chrome (older) where known to not view MT correctly.

I would try to update your browsers first before looking elsewhere first if you haven't already. Try a search on here to try and find the tread.

Andy

I think Dehatter "Tom" was one of the people talking about this issue maybe 6 months or more ago.
