Database update Interval

I have read that the optimum update interval is 5 mins. Something to do with station averages etc.

My weather station updates every 5 mins via WU via weathercat software running on an old mac mini. All good there.

I am also helping my dad set up his weather station on meteotemplate.

His station (Davis Pro2) is connected to internet via WeatherlinkIP datalogger to WL. The free version only updates WU every 15mins.

My questions are:

1. Will meteotemplate work okay with 15 min data updates?
2. Will the station averages etc be okay?

We were hoping not to have to subscribe to WL pro to download his own data.

Does anyone know, how important the 5 min data upload interval is?

5 minutes interval, it is the sending of the data on the data server of meteotemplate so it is important
No obligation to have weatherlink pro to download data with WLIP, only a free registration on weatherlink2
