Hi from Polygyros, Hellas (Greece)

Post by nkolaosp » Wed Jan 30, 2019 10:28 am

Hi everyone,

A week ago we installed an AmbientWeather WS-2902A weather station in Kalyves,Chalkidiki, Hellas and we stumbled on this amazing piece of software meteotemplate. We are currently using the WU connection to get the data from the weather station but we are also thinking of using weeWX with a RPi for the data collection.

We are intending to use this weather station and the data it provides to assist us in our farming business which has to do with edible green olives of the Chalkidiki variety.

The address for our website is https://weather.cube.com.gr so drop by and have a look, although it is very much a work in progress.

See you all soon,

Nikos and George

Hello from the USA. I am not sure how much research you have done concerning the WS-2902A with weewx and an RPI 3B+ I am assuming but it is a tricky and time consuming process. You'll need a second router as a sniffer to pull in the 2902A's signal and then send it to your rpi. I used an older ASUS AC66U router which was cheap now and worked perfect for that as you will also need to upload scripts to the router which is all available from the weewx website and a user group on google. I can't find the address to it but I'm sure if you do a simple search for weewx user group you should find it.

As I said it is a tricky ordeal for the Ambient weather stations but it can be done. Also you might consider setting it up to capture your own data to MYSQL format to your RPI's SD card which again is not hard to do. A 32gb should save for about 4 years worth of weather data.

Your site is coming along just fine. Look at other Meteo Template users sites to get idea's what you want to display and how. You already have the hard part figured out.
