Database Not Updated Periodically

Post by dsadams » Sun Oct 06, 2019 6:24 pm

I am having a problem that has been going on for months and may go back to when I updated MeteoTemplate to 17.2 Nectarine. The databases associated with my site are only getting updated about 20 - 50 times per day. These updates are random, meaning they are not every five minutes apart, but occur throughout the day. The weather information in some blocks, such as current block and ssGuages are updated every 10 seconds as configured in Weather Display. The started in July of 2019.

My configuration:
  • MeteoTemplate 17.2 Nocturne using API method to update
    Weather Display 10.37S build 101 October 5, 2019
    Window 10
    Centos 7.7 virtuoso
    MariaDB 10.3.18
Troubleshooting steps:
  • Stopped and restarted MariaDB - no change
Rebooted the webserver - no change
Rebooted the windows computer running Weather Display - no change
Changed update time to 20 seconds - no change
I backed up, deleted the databases recreated the databases using Main Setup and restored the databases - no change
Repaired the database using phpAdmin - no change
I can update the databases remotely using Navicat for MySQL
I can update the databases locally using phpAdmin
I am out of ideas on what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.

Quick question. What format is the database? MyISAM or InnoDB?

Thanks for the question. It is MyISAM.

Thanks,

Hmm, interesting. are you able to see any log data from Weather Display? Do you know how to enable slow query logging for MariaDB? I'd also look at the apache logs and see if you're seeing Weather Display hit the API as expected. That should eliminate one half of the equation (if WD is hitting the API every X minutes, then WD and apache are working) and it's between the API and MariaDB (or mariadb). If it's not hitting the API every X minutes, then it's either apache or WD.

I am able to see the api.php script run every 10 seconds from my Weather Display workstation in the apache logs. That matches the configuration in Weather Display.

I believe that I have just turned on slow query logging. I will let it run and look at the logs tomorrow. Hopefully, that will show something.

Thanks for your suggestions. Hopefully, this will lead to a solution.
