Footer won't display

Post by aznetcowboy » Thu Apr 26, 2018 10:03 pm

I added the following to my footer, " Copyright © El Gheko Neighborhood Association 2013-2018 - All Rights Reserved " however all I see in the footer with only the spinning logo. It sure seems simple enough and straight forward enough, so why won't it display?

I cant tell because I dont know what you did

However I have to remind you that modifying the footer is not allowed and copyright for MT is mine.

The steps I took are as follows:

1: I went into the "Meteotemplate Control Panel";
2: In the Homepage block I clicked on "Setup" and selected "Create/edit desktop Homepage Layout;
3: In the "Homepage Layout" I went to the "Footer block:";
4: I entered into the "Footer block:" the text "Copyright (c) El Gheko Neighborhood Association 2013-2018 - All Rights Reserved" and then clicked on "SAVE".

All I see on my webpage http://www.elgheko.us/mtp/ is a grey "box" spanning the bottom of the page in which I see the Meteotemplate logo slowly spinning. I removed any spaces and replaced them with underscores (_) to see if the spaces might be a problem. Nothing changed.

I think you need to enter the name of a block to use as the footer block not the content you want there!

That box is for footer block, not for footer text and let me remind you again that this work is not copyrighted to you. If that is not ok with you, then what you need to is open a code editor and write your template.

In trying to get the footer, which I though was for my use, I was using some text from the footer of a site the is mainly code a friend of mine and I put together. It was not meant to go here, it was just being used as an example of some typical footer usage.

You can place a text in the left section of the footer - this is in the Main setup -> section Customization

I'm somewhat at a loss as to how hard it is to understand, and people keep asking the same questions. It states clearly in the main menu and a section of the foot as follows:

"Footer

The footer contains three fields. The one on the right will show an icon to enter your admin section and also the alternative (mobile/desktop) site. The middle section is for credits and link for Meteotemplate. Do not remove this section, the template is available for free but the license includes that you must keep this part untouched. The left section is where you can enter your own content. Below you can either select to choose the current date, time or both, or your own custom text."

Can anyone tell me how you could make this any clearer?

Edit: I know this is none of my business but I have to somewhat intervene here.
Edit: MT=Meteotemplate

Just because you made changes to MT, added your own code.. free or you paid someone to do it, fixed errors in code, made any changes what so ever to MT period, it does not make it your software in anyway. You can not put your own copyright on any part of MT, including blocks or plugins, sell MT as your own or charge for the use of MT. You are allowed to ask for donation if your users so choose but that is it.

MT is covered by https://www.copyright.gov/title17 in the US and by International copyright laws.
