PWS Info Available to Google Home/Assistant

Post by cdarney3 » Fri Nov 16, 2018 6:50 pm

Has anyone tried to make the information from their Personal Weather Station accessible via Google Home? I thought it would be interesting to get the information like in the Current Conditions tab of the Summary block read from Google Home. I'm not sure about other information since it may get rather lengthy and I would be more inclined to access my Web Page for the information but the Current Conditions would be useful.

I'm not really sure where Google gets it's temperature and conditions from when asked. Other than a crude hook to Weather Underground via Ambient Weather (only if you use their HW), I can't find any way to get my info. Does anyone else know of a way?

Ambient Weather stations come Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT enabled, so for me, it already works... And works well I might add. I have several IFTTT sctipts based off my station data and current conditions are simply a question away (Alexa, thank you).

Not sure what station you use, but you might check with your manufacture for a possible firmware update.

I do realize that if you don't have an enabled station brand, it will be hard to get one approved for an individual (or 4 or 5).

My station is a Davis Vantage Pro2 that was purchased from Ambient eleven years or so ago. I used an Ambient meteohub for several years too. That unit started to get weird so I replaced it with Meteobridge on a TL-MR3020V3 as opposed to the similar (yet FAR more expensive) Ambient hardware. WIthout their meteobridge hardware I can't use their network.
