Server check error - url_fopen The url_fopen property is disabled ....

Hi Jachym,
i'm installing a new copy of meteotemplate on this new domain: http://www.meteoponsacco.it

Once i've pushed "Server check" i've this error:
url_fopen
The url_fopen property is disabled in your PHP settings file. This needs to be enabled in order to be able to read files.

Do you know how to fix this in my host cpanel?

Alessandro,

On your server you should find a file called php.ini. in that file there is a line that reads allow_url_fopen = off. Change the off to on and save the file. That should take care of the problem.

Allesandro,

If you are using C-Panel: Go to "Software" and select "Select PHP Version". Once that appears look to the top right. You should see an option "Switch to PHP Options". Click on that and you will see a list. The very first one is the option to turn on and off the "allow_url_fopen switch".

I've followed your instructions but i've this error:

Warning: Changing php modules and php options via PHP Selector for native php version is impossible

This sounds like your host doesn't allow allow_url_fopen = on. Call them and ask.

Try this. In the directory you have Meteotemplate installed upload a file named .user.ini (dot user dot ini) It should be uploaded as a text file (ascii)

In the file should be

allow_url_fopen = On

Sorry, Alessandro, I have run out of ideas. Jay's suggestion to contact your site host and ask if they can turn on the switch seems to be your only option other than finding a new host.

Some free hosting sites do put some limitations on their customers, but I would have thought (I am no expert) that a paid-site host would have the option. Maybe I just got lucky (I had the same problem when installing Jáchym's masterpiece) with my choice of - cheap - host.
