nwsForecastMultiple not working

Post by PCW » Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:11 pm

Hi Everyone,
First post!! Great stuff on this forum but can't seem to find the post that will help.
After making sure the nwsForecastMultiple block is correctly installed on homepage and setup configured, I don't get the requested forecast coordinates weather. I've gone as far as I am capable to find the error. See the screenshot for the potential problem. Not sure how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.

My bad. I read your post too quickly and went to your nwsForecastCustom block. I get the same thing you are getting on the multiple block. The error indicates Google Maps doesn't like the api key. I don't use the multiple block and am not familiar with the setup for it. If it's using the same key installed in your main setup, that is obviously working for the custom forecast. The demo block is working on the MT site. Maybe someone else will chime in here with an idea. Meantime I might download the block to look at the setup screen.

Dave,
I like the idea of the compact mode of the multiple, does not use up as much real estate on homepage and allows for full forecast of the different cities when requested.
I'm still not sure how the coordinates are entered. Normal convention uses a "-" if west of meridian. Setup says to use - if east coordinates. Go figure.
Hope to get a html guru to chime in.
I'm very new in the game and having a great experience, most of the time.
Webcam coming in the near future.

I've reinstalled this block with default coordinates and it works as advertised but only with the defaults.
When I enter new coordinates (either east/west longitude before or after the default ones) , the data does not display.
Does anyone know why only the default coordinates work?

Appreciate your help.

HI Andy,
I
What I found with further troubleshooting was that when I used the default coordinates in setup it worked. The problems start when I add a new set of coordinates. If added to the default list, either before or after the defaults, no new forecast sets would display for the new coordinates only the defaults.
I've tried all the longitude combos with no success in getting new forecasts to display.
I looked in the nwsForecastMultiple cache on the host to and the new and default are there.
Not sure what to do now. I wanted to use it a center column in compacted form.
Any help would be appreciated.
I removed the block from my homepage for now.
Thanks for helping.

From what I am seeing now... you are using the same blocks... one in the upper right and one in the lower left. As far as I know you can not use the same block twice in any part of your setup. I am not using the multi version but have added it to the bottom center of my site for testing and it is working fine for 3 sites. I believe again that you can not add the same block twice. Try removing either the bottom left or top right and try it again. Look at my site as a reference for the next 24 hours.

The block setup should look like the screenshot in default mode. Change the lat-long to the sites you want listed. if it doesn't work let me know.

Andy

Hmmm can't seem to add screen shot. not sure what's up.

first take out the extra space in , -111.838023 and change it to ,-111.83. Than clear the cache again. If that works try adding an extra number to lat long. I could only get it to work as "40.69,-111.83"

For some reason I can not add a screen shot here.

I added your extra lat-long numbers and it took but made no difference to the distance from "3 Miles ESE South Salt Lake UT"
Maybe those extra numbers make no difference but I'm not sure but I have it working.

What small mistake on the coordinate entry. Thanks for catching that!!!

Mike West designed the block for the WU radar maps and shared the block setup. They'e cool aren't they?
He used a webcam block and inserted WU regional radar links in the url entry slot. You get the links from WU at the bottom right of the regional radar display. "Get Link" Make sure you animate the display then copy the link, otherwise you will only get a static image. I used the us and tacoma maps for my site, both animated.
Mike West named the block "nwswinter" Attached is the zip file.
Install as you would any block!!!!

Now, how do you get the interactive sticker on the signature block? I look cheesy without it. Here is mine.
http://remingtonweather.com/template/pl ... nteractive

I"ll be around if you need any help with WU.

I will have to build the interactive signature line for you as it is a difficult process trying to explain. As long as your current site will remain the same url it won't take long. Download the stickers plugin from meteotemplate.com upload to plugins directory on your host and I should have it done by the time your done.

Add the following line to the signature line of your profile.

Code: Select all

You may need to modify it to suit you but this is the basic.
This will only work if you installed sticker plugin

Andy

Also I left off https incase you are not running a secure ssl certificate. If you are change http:// to https://

I reread your message again and did not see you already created one. It looks just fine. Just add it to your signature line in profile is all it takes.

Thanks, It works!!!
Here is the WU US animated link:

Lawton link:

Separate the two with a comma. Switch the order as desired.
I update mine every 300 sec.

Great working with you.
Now to try and get my webcam on my site. May have to wait for more brain cells.
